Excellent!. I loved his chapter on tools showing what little he needs and pictures of the same well used. I wouldn't have bought it, but it was required. The next summer we saw each other I had more experience kissing. I never hesitate to download her books before they come out. I have studied this book from front to back; I live in the Catskills and although not a peak-climber, I have hiked much of the Catskills. This book is written in necessary detail ranging from Ch.1 Deglaciation, Soils & Topography & including a fantastic map; there are many maps in the book as well.Michael writes about Peat Bogs; a personal interest of mine and he carbon dates bogs, by sending samples to a lab, it is quite expensive, but the results are amazing with bogs dating back to 7,700 years! Absolutely phenomenal. As Michael describes the different forests and plant ecology he has included maps of distribution of plant life including Balsam Fur, low elevation Paper birch, Mountain Ash, Wild Raisin, Mountain Holly and many other species along with the importance of the distribution of these plants; thus allowing you to learn how to decipher the verbiage of the forest. After explaining how the forests have developed he talks about early industry & the impact on the different forests & of course, there are maps to help identify centers of tanning & Eastern Hemlock, Charcoal, saw mills & chair factories . Often the artists continued building for many years, sometimes until their dying day. Cheval's palace is one of many works of architectural fantasy in this book, the result of over 20 years' research by celebrated architectural photographer Deidi von Schaewen. To venture into this world is to immerse oneself in the collective unconscious. Their work is impossible to categorise: Art brut, architecture with-out architects, self-taught art, fantasy architecture in the tradition of Piranesi, non-academic architecture, Outsider Art - none of these definitions quite encapsulates this worldwide phenomenon. Like Cheval, the creators of these extraordinary worlds simply started building, with no rules to guide them and, in most cases, no previous artistic experience. The addresses of sites open to the public are listed in the appendix.. These fantasy palaces, bizarre sanctuaries, and colorful sculpture gardens seldom follow a plan. Eccentric hideaways like the Tour de l'Apocalypse in Belgium, the Junkerhaus at Lemgo or
